Between school runs, dance classes, and the never-ending laundry pile, keeping up with your family photos can feel impossible. Your phone storage is full (again 😅), your camera roll has 9,000 pictures, and somewhere in there is that one photo you meant to print last year.

Sound familiar? You’re not alone - every family I photograph around Tweed Heads and the Gold Coast says the same thing. We take so many photos that actually enjoying them feels like a full-time job.

The good news? You don’t need to be a scrapbooker or have endless hours to create meaningful memories. Here are a few super-simple ways to keep up with family memories -  without glue sticks, guilt, or overwhelm.

  • Create One Small Monthly Ritual

ďťż

Pick one weekend a month to scroll your camera roll and tap the little ❤️ on your favourite photos.

That’s it.

Those “favourites” become a ready-made highlight reel when you finally want to print or make a photo book.

If you’re local to the Tweed Coast or Gold Coast, try pairing this ritual with a beach walk or a café visit - memory-keeping that feels more like slowing down than doing homework.

  • Try a Photo App That Does the Work for You

If you’ve ever promised yourself you’ll “print them one day,” this is your sign. Apps like Chatbooks, FreePrints, or Google Photo Books make it ridiculously easy to get your photos off your phone and into your hands.

My personal favourite is Chatbooks because it pulls photos straight from your social media (captions included!) and prints them into a photo-book journal - effortless and meaningful.

I love seeing families actually print their photos, which is why I offer beautiful, hand-edited digital galleries with optional prints and albums, so you can enjoy your memories without the stress of organising them.

  • Keep a One-Sentence-a-Day Journal

This one’s magic. Each night (or just a few times a week), jot down one small moment:

“He finally learned to ride his bike.”

“She whispered, ‘I love you more than pancakes.’”

“We danced in the kitchen again.”

It doesn’t need to be deep ... it just needs to be true. By the end of the year, you’ll have a time capsule of your family’s story, written one quiet sentence at a time.

  • Schedule a Storytelling Session Once a Year

Professional sessions aren’t about perfection; they’re about perspective. When I photograph families around Tweed Heads, the Gold Coast and Northern NSW, my goal is to capture the moments you’re too busy living to notice. Booking one storytelling session a year means your memories are automatically preserved, no matter how busy life gets. And yes, I do this myself, my family's story is everything!

  • Back It All Up (Future You Will Thank You)

Before your next phone upgrade or “storage full” notification, backup your photos to the cloud or an external drive. It’s five minutes that can save you five years of heartbreak.

The Bottom Line

You don’t need to scrapbook to remember. You just need to pause  and protect what matters most. If you’re ready for photos that feel like real life  (soft, honest, and completely you) my 2026 calendar for The Story We’ll Tell family sessions is now open.

Let’s create the story you’ll want to tell again and again.
