I don't know about anyone else, but I am officially done with this weather in The Tweed. I am seriously considering a move to the desert just to see the sun again.
The constant rain. The cancelled plans. The flooded roads. The muddy backyards. The mould. The humidity. The feeling that everything in Northern NSW has been damp since about 2022.
And trying to plan outdoor photography around it lately has felt almost impossible.
Which is exactly why I've found myself leaning more and more into studio newborn photography here on the Tweed Coast.
Because when you've just had a baby, the last thing most families need is something else to stress about. Weather should not be on that list. No checking the radar every ten minutes. No rescheduling because the beach is being flogged by sideways rain. No dragging a newborn out into the cold wind while everyone silently questions their life choices. Just a calm, warm studio space designed specifically for babies and families.
One of the biggest things I love about studio newborn sessions is the consistency. Soft light, neutral tones, a relaxed environment and zero pressure to battle whatever the weather has decided to throw at us this week. After the amount of rain we've had across the Tweed Coast and Northern Rivers over the last few years, I genuinely think more families are craving that simplicity.
My studio in Banora Point is intentionally simple and child-focused. Clean whites, soft textures, gentle styling and plenty of room for sessions that follow the baby's lead without feeling rushed or overly posed.
These sessions are relaxed. There's time for feeding, cuddles, settling and all the little pauses that naturally come with a newborn. We're not rushing anywhere.
I still love outdoor family photography and always will. But right now, studio sessions are becoming such an important part of what I do here at Wonderland Photography, especially for newborns, babies and milestone sessions. Because no matter what the weather is doing outside, the studio is calm, warm and ready to go... and after six solid weeks of rain, that honestly feels like a relief.
